Ministries Christmas Outreach
Christmas Outreach
This year we have chosen to buy gifts for: Madge Phillips/Waypoint Agency for Women and Children, Mission of Hope, and
two individuals from the Rapids AIDS Project. Donation boxes for all three agencies can be found in the narthex.
Madge Phillips/Waypoint
For the Madge Phillips/Waypoint Project, there are ornaments on our tree (in narthex) to select and purchase a gift.
There is also a list on the bulletin board for age specific gifts for children and for mothers.
Your donations cannot be wrapped and must be delivered to church no later than December 11.
On December 12th, our donations will be delivered to Madge Phillips and on Thursday, December 13 and Friday, December 14
the mothers will shop the donations for their children. This year the children will be able to shop for their mothers for
the first time.
We are also collecting nonperishable food items for Waypoint. There will be a box for nonperishable food donations in our
narthex. The top food items needed by the Madge Phillips/Waypoint Agency are canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables,
boxed pasta meal, soups, toiletries, and baby items such as formula, diapers, wipes, wash, and lotion items.
Mission of Hope
We are also collecting food for Mission of Hope. Please place nonperishable items in their designated box. Mission of
Hope specifically needs canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauces and spaghetti.
Rapid AIDS Project
For the Rapids AIDS Project, we have been asked to donate gifts for two individuals. Please watch the bulletin board for
their requests; we will post as soon as we receive their requests.
Waypoint Holiday Open House
Waypoint's Holiday Open House will be Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you are interested in
attending you are encouraged to bring a holiday gift for homeless families and victims of violence. There will be Carolers,
cookies and tours of the Waypoint Facility.
Waypoint is also in need of volunteers to set up and help distribute gifts to the families. Gift distributions will take
place at Waypoint (318 5th Street SE) and they are in need of helpers to sort donations, greet families, and wrap gifts.
Volunteers are needed for the following times:
- Thursday, December 13 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (This is the date for set up and sort.)
- Friday, December 14 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (mothers and children choose gifts)
- Saturday, December 15 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (mothers and children choose gifts)
Families are encouraged to participate. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you have questions, please contact Shari Singelstad at 286-9358. If you are willing to volunteer at Waypoint, please
contact Shari. We need to know how many volunteers from Holy Redeemer so Waypoint can arrange times. Also volunteers
need to complete forms prior to volunteering. Thank You!
