Capital Campaign
Our capital campaign is off and running and well under way. Thank you to everyone who turned in their commitment cards
on Commitment Sunday. Be sure to check out the "hanging tree" in the sanctuary. This is the result of our entire hand
tracing effort and a lot of hard work by many individuals. The tree is beautiful and is a great symbol of our Church’s
mission.
Lastly, due to the overwhelming generosity and support of our congregation, as of November 19, we have committed $83,106.
The Holy Spirit truly works in wonderful ways! On behalf of the committee, we would to thank everyone for your
generosity and support.
Thank you
Kirk Wilkie and Judy Toy
Confirmation Hy-Vee Trip
On 14 November, the confirmation students, their mentors, Pastor Brenda, and Vicar Craig traveled to Hy-Vee to purchase
food for the Food Bank and for Mission of Hope (these items were delivered to Mission of Hope when HR members served a
meal there on 15 November). Each person was asked to contribute $5. Our money ($120 total) enabled us to purchase the
following: 5 jars of peanut butter, 10 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 4 jars of spaghetti sauce, 4 boxes of instant potatoes,
6 lbs. of sugar, 4 bags of spaghetti, 3 boxes of cereal, 7 boxes of cornbread, 4 cans of SPAM, 5 cans of tuna, 10 rolls
of toilet paper, 14 cans of vegetables, 16 boxes of Jell-O, 7 cans of pork and beans, 11 cans of fruit, 10 cans of soup,
and 12 bars of soap.
Mission of Hope Lunch
On Thursday, 15 November 10 people from Holy Redeemer served a meal at Mission of Hope. A number of other people also
provided food for the meal. We served around 60 people, and had the chance to learn a bit about Mission of Hope and to
meet some of the people who utilize it. What a great opportunity for service in our community!
Bob Sprengeler, who works often with the people at Mission of Hope, let us know that those we served appreciated both
the food and the friendliness of the servers!
The Council will provide food for the meal on Thursday, 20 December. Due to work schedules, we most likely will need people
in addition to Council members to help serve on that day. If you are available (it is about a 2-1/2 hour commitment), please
let PB know as soon as possible. Thanks!
